About Toronto Defiant

Toronto Defiant is a Canadian professional Overwatch esports team based in Toronto, Ontario. The team competes in the Overwatch League (OWL), a global esports league for the video game Overwatch. Toronto Defiant is one of two OWL teams based in Canada, the other being the Vancouver Titans.

History

Toronto Defiant was founded in 2018 as one of the 20 expansion teams for the OWL's second season. The team is owned by OverActive Media, a Canadian esports and entertainment company. Toronto Defiant's inaugural season was in 2019, and they finished with a record of 12-16, failing to qualify for the season playoffs.

In the 2020 season, Toronto Defiant improved their record to 14-14, but again failed to qualify for the playoffs. The team made a number of changes to its roster for the 2021 season, including the addition of star DPS player Brady "Agilities" Girardi. Toronto Defiant finished the 2021 season with a record of 12-16, once again failing to qualify for the playoffs.
