South Africa posted a mammoth 409 runs from their 50 overs, with de Villiers contributing a blistering 162 from just 66 balls.
The West Indies were never in the hunt, being bowled out for 152 in just 33.1 overs. Dale Steyn was the pick of the South African bowlers, taking 4-25.
The victory is South Africa's biggest ever in a World Cup match and takes them to the top of Pool B.
