Israeli Airstrike On Displaced Person Tent Camp Kills Dozens

Israeli airstrike on displaced person tent camp kills dozens

UN Security Council to hold emergency meeting

45 people, including women and children, killed in southern Gaza

UNITED NATIONS (AP) — The UN Security Council will hold an emergency meeting today to discuss a deadly Israeli airstrike on a displaced person tent camp in the southern Gaza Strip. The strike killed at least 45 people, including women and children, according to Palestinian officials.

The Israeli military said it was targeting militants who were firing rockets into Israel. However, witnesses said that the camp was full of civilians who had fled their homes due to the fighting.

The airstrike is the deadliest single incident in the current conflict between Israel and Hamas, which has now entered its third week. About one million people have fled their homes in Gaza during that time, according to the UN's main relief agency in the territory.

The UN Security Council has condemned the airstrike and called for an immediate ceasefire. The United States has also condemned the attack and called for an investigation.
