Unboxing and Review

Introduction:

Tamina released it's 1/32 scale F-16CJ Block 50 Fighting Falcon model kit in September 2022. The F-16 is a single-engine, supersonic, multi-role fighter jet developed by General Dynamics for the US Air Force. The F-16CJ is a single seat variant equipped with the AN/APG-68(V)9 radar and other advanced avionics, as well as conformal fuel tanks for extended range. The Block 50 version features updated avionics and weapons systems, and is the most advanced variant of the F-16.

The Tamiya kit is molded in light gray plastic and consists of over 500 parts. It includes a detailed cockpit, landing gear, and weapons bay. The decals are provides for two different aircraft: one from the 56th Fighter Wing at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona, and one from the 18th Fighter Wing at Kadena Air Base in Japan.

Unboxing:

The kit comes in a sturdy box with a nice painting of an F-16CJ on the cover. Inside, the parts are packed in individual bags. The instructions are clear and well-illustrated, and the decals are thin and in register. Overall, the kit makes a very good impression.

Review:

The Tamiya F-16CJ is an excellent kit. The parts fit together well, the details are sharp, and the decals are high-quality. The kit can be built into a very accurate and detailed model of the F-16CJ. However, there are a few minor issues to be aware of. The fit of the canopy is a bit tight, and the landing gear is a bit delicate. Also, the kit does not include any weapons, so you will need to purchase them separately if you want to build a complete model.

Conclusion:

Overall, the Tamiya F-16CJ is a highly recommended kit. It is an excellent choice for modelers of all skill levels, and it is sure to produce a beautiful and accurate model of this iconic fighter jet.
